Fun drills, personal assistance build skating skills

Vancouver Island Hockey Camp – We emphasize personal assistance so class sizes are small and participants are grouped by ability. Your player gets the one-on-one attention needed to turn skating into a competitive advantage. We combine highly effective on-ice training and athletic off-ice activities with a large dose of fun. Your players will smile as their skills grow.

School owner and head instructor Heath Dennison is a former standout hockey player. (His B.C. Junior Hockey League team retired his jersey.) He personally supervises all camps. He’s got 25 years of experience and has helped thousands of kids become stronger, faster skaters. Many of them have gone on to successful hockey careers.

Our specialized camps and programs cover power skating and hockey skills. There’s also a specific camp for Defenceman. It focuses on the skills needed to excel at that position, including skating backwards, cross-overs and improving skating stride. You can also choose private skating lessons, which offer the option of video analysis. Off-ice activities include yoga for flexibility and strength, and road hockey.

“Jake and Eli really enjoyed the camp this year. Both felt that they made improvements in their skating and puck handling. Overall, I thought the camp was great! I really liked the low player – instructor ratio … that makes a big difference. My kids had fun and in the end, that’s a huge factor in player development.”
