Camp Time Schedule

Age Group: 6-9 yrs and 10-13 yrs

  • 9:00 am - 10:15 am Session 1 - Power skating
  • 10:30 am - 11:00 am Hockey Lesson Outside
  • 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Yoga (bring a mat or towel)
  • 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Lunch + Road Hockey Game
  • 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm Hockey Gear Back On
  • 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm Session 2 – Skills/Scrimmage

Both age groups skate together and are split accordingly once on the ice among their peers. Questions about this please ask Heath.

 

Session 1

In the beginning of each session (15mins) the kids are all together and we work on crossovers and step overs. I then break them into 3 groups based on their ability so that they are learning amongst their peers. This helps build confidence when learning a new technique and at the end of the session we come back together and work on balance and agility.

Session 2

In the beginning of each session (15min) the players warm up together and then they are placed into 3 groups based on their current ability.   By placing the players with others of similar skill set, they will have the opportunity to build confidence in their puck handling skills.  During the skills session, they will be taught how to correctly shoot and pass, and some stickhandling techniques, each day building on what they have learned the day prior. At the end of every skills session, we will run a controlled scrimmage to build confidence with their skating and handling the puck in a game setting (25 min).

Off Ice Activities:

Please bring a water bottle, lunch, snack, running shoes, hat and road hockey stick. The kids start outside playing road hockey for 30 mins then they will then participate in Yoga for 1 hour (please bring a yoga mat or beach towel). They will go back outside and play road hockey till 1 pm and eat their lunch before Session 2. I have leaders to help put their gear back on for the 2nd ice session, however, parents are more than welcome to come back and help with their child's gear.
